Cambodia 2010

In October 2010, my mother and I spent almost 2 weeks in Cambodia, mostly in Siem Reap.
We volunteered with the Ponheary Ly Foundation, visiting local schools and families in very poor and rural villages. We participated in the Pchum Ben holiday and fed our ancestors by the light of the moon, saw the temples of Angkor, had a crazy 12 hour boat ride (should have been 5 hours) to Battambang, and rode the Bamboo train.
We ate well; every thing from street food to insects to fancy French and Khmer cuisine. We were blessed by an abbott in an old wood pagoda across from  Angkor Thom and spent a last busy day in the capitol of Phnom Penh.  It was a fantastic trip!
