Today’s featured photo was taken during our trip to Vietnam in July 2009

This photo is from the famous Temple of Literature in Hanoi and was taken outside a souvenir shop inside the temple grounds. Seeing a performance of the famous water puppets in Hanoi is de rigueur for most tourists. We did not go. But I did like the faces of these guys and how every one of them was a different character. Now I wish I’d bought one. But what did I know? It was the first day of our trip…

Favorite Photo Friday- Brantomé France

Today’s featured photo was taken during a trip to France in 2008.

This photo is from the picturesque town of Brantomé in the Dordogne region. For some reason I didn’t use it anywhere on the website, even though it’s one of my favorites. The building is a hotel and restaurant which sits in the middle of the river that runs through the town. I love the colors; the bright blue shutters, the red and yellow leaves, the dark green water. I would have enjoyed staying there, or even have lunch, but we were just passing through. A little research reveals this to be the Moulin de l’Abbaye Hotel. The hotel turns out to be a bit of a budget-buster, but the rooms and the food look pretty amazing. Maybe someday when I win the lottery we’ll return and stay there.
