As I updated this for the first time in several years, I realized that much has changed and I’ve been able to lighten my load quite a bit due to changes in technology. I now carry only an iPad which does the duty of netbook/laptop and Kindle. My camera gear has changed and lightened. I no longer carry a big Nikon DSLR with multiple lenses. As of April 2015, I have a Sony Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 16-50mm Power Zoom Lens which is about half the size and weight of my old Nikon. I’m very happy with it.

Critical items:
Copy of passports
ATM cards
Credit Cards
Notes and confirmation letters- Separate zip lock bags per destination/city

Tech Stuff:
cell phone with charger
digital camera-traveling MUCH lighter now with the Sony a6000 with charger and extra 50mm lens
memory cards
iPad with Keyboard and charger
Fitbit Flex (I like to see how much I walk when I travel)
Plug adaptors
Monster Power Strip (gives you four extra outlets when there is only one)

TSA Liquids 1 qt bag
1st aid kit
Toothbrush & Toothpaste

One of the nice things about traveling with someone is that you can share toiletries.
Clockwise; top left and top middle bags are our TSA “liquid allowances” bags. Top and bottom right are misc dry stuff. Middle bottom is my makeup and bottom left is a first aid kit.

Luggage Locks
extra zip lock bags
zip ties
Snacks: Trail mix, oatmeal, chocolate, gum
Travelrest Travel Pillow
