Inle Lake Local Market Myanmar (Burma)
On our last full day at Inle Lake, we hired a car and driver for a long day of exploration, eventually ending up at the pagoda complex of Kakku, several hours away. But first, the driver took us to a nearby local market on our way out of the area. It was quite busy and evident that people had come from far and wide to sell their goods, provide services (hello, Mr. Blacksmith below) and do their weekly shopping.

Their vegetables look beautiful.
I’ve never heard of garbanzo tofu before. Did you have a chance to try It?

It’s been so long now, I can’t remember, but I think so! I was also impressed by the quality of the vegetables.

Hi- Great photos! I am visiting Myanmar in September and wondered if a hiring a guide is recommended for Bagan or we should just use a driver and/or e-bike? In Siem Reap we hired driver/guide for 3 days and noticed that you did too. Not needed for Bagan?
Enjoyed your photos of Inle Lake– did the hotel book the local tours for you? We would like to go to Indein and also visit Sagar (Sankar) on second day. Would you recommend visiting Kakku?
Thank you in advance. Happy trails.

So sorry for the delay in response, I didn’t see the comment until now.
In Bagan we only had a driver for one day. It was very, very hot and worth it to have a car with AC in between the temples. We weren’t interested in the e bikes so I can’t comment on those.
We did book our trips at Inle through the hotel. As I think I mentioned in the post, booking the lake tour with just the places we wanted to see and none of the excess stops was a better deal and totally customized. We enjoyed Kakku. There were almost no other people there so it felt really special. But it’s a long drive.
